Janzer Mailbox / LockDrop
Marketing Needs
Janzer Corporation, a leading family owned and operated manufacturer
of mailboxes, contracted Definitive Design to design and engineer a Drop
Box that would be:
- Attractive and free standing - to eliminate the need for a brick
or stone enclosure.
- Made entirely of Aluminum and Stainless steel - so it will never
rust.
- User friendly - incorporating two large doors, one front door for
delivery and outgoing mail, and one secure rear door for use only by
the owner. The large bin is especially useful for package collection
over long periods of time and eliminates the need to start and stop
mail service.
- Secure – A three point locking system offers maximum security,
eliminating the chances of identity theft or stolen mail.
- Compact – A patented door mechanism allows maximum interior
storage with minimal exterior size.
Development Path
- Industrial Design
- Design of extruded, cast, and sheet metal parts
using SolidWorks
- Optimization of the patented mechanism for better functionality
of the receiving door
- Evaluation and modification of the Prototype
- Full set of manufacturing
drawings with tolerance analysis
The Result
Definitive Design successfully designed the Drop Box incorporating all
of Janzer’s marketing needs. The “LockBox” has
been very well received as the most secure and convenient Drop Box on the
market.
