Project Scope

Definitive Design was contracted by Lock-A-Bye to develop a revolutionary locking bag. All aspects for the lock, cable and functional specification were to be developed, prototyped, tested and manufactured.

• Defined custom studs and zipper pulls with “Lock-A-Bye” logo.

The Result

Definitive Design successfully engineered a key operated patented dual locking mechanism interfacing with a tamper resistant zipper which connects to a galvanized cable that was sewn throughout the bag and shoulder strap making it nearly impossible to penetrate. Next, we researched and sourced water/stain/slash resistant fabric that could be manufactured to an array of custom printed fashionable colors and patterns. Finally, we managed and sourced the offshore contract manufacturing through our affiliate, TTM Technologies, with operations in Southeast Asia.

The Lock-A-Bye bag is particularly unique in that it provides a method of securing personal possessions so one can engage in activities like taking a swim on the beach or in a public pool without having to worry. The bag was successfully introduced to the market in September 2010 and is currently being sold on-line, through liberty travel, and at trade show venues.
