Yoostar Video System

Project Scope:
Yoostar is a start-up company developing and interactive video gaming system that allows the user to insert themselves directly into Hollywood movies scenes using green screen technology. Our of industrial designers, mechanical engineers, electrical and software developers sprung into action to bring this product to market at an unprecedented pace. Hardware development included the PC camera, adjustable tripod, remote control, monitor mount, and a collapsible green screen.

Development Path:

• Project initiation: September of 2008
• Industrial design complete by October 2008
• Hardware engineering started October 2008
• 100 function samples in December 2008
• Product introduction at CES show January 2009
• Tooling release for manufacture in Asia January 2009
• Product shipped in June 2009
• Nationwide sales started August 2009

The Result:
Definitive Design was the mechanical design member of the team providing program management, design refinement prototyping, and final product engineering for manufacturing release. Stringent design controls allowed the team to maintain the aggressive schedule and meet and/or surpass all milestones. The CES introduction was a huge success claiming mention in the keynote address and countless media press releases.
