The First Years / Take and Toss

Project Scope

Produce a line of inexpensive and disposable infant and toddler food storage containers and feeding products.  The items needed to be durable enough to stand up to toddlers, convey quality at the same time having the parent not mind tossing them away after several uses.

Development Path

• generate concept sketches to include marketing input, manufacturing methods as well as human factors for little hands with limited dexterity
• build a series of prototypes at various thicknesses for parent focus groups for determining the fine line between keeping a product and feeling comfortable throwing it away
• engineering for the entire line including considerations for:
• thin wall injection molding
• proper geometry for spin welding the insulated cup
• ribs for strengthening the larger cups
• a section dish where the dish and the lid are the same part
• produce graphics and legal artwork
• provide production documentation
• serve as overseas vendor liaison

The Result

Paramount’s turnkey services contributed to success of the financially successful product line for The First Years.  This line has so greatly exceeded sales expectations that additional tooling was required to keep up with demand.  Paramount continues to development new product with The First Years on the Take n’ Toss line.
