The award honored Definitive Design and their client Full Life for the design and engineering of the Full Life Pilot™ Walker. The Pilotä Walker is a revolutionary mobility aid designed to meet the needs of a variety of patients with mobility challenges. It is engineered to incorporate larger wheels for ease of mobility, a built in seat for resting, and a second set of handles to help the patient rise from any seat using less arm strength. A built in receiver holds accessories including an I.V. Pole and the Pilot™ Reacher (so the patient does not have to bend over to pick up items or stretch to reach items on a shelf). A removable basket and a storage pouch allow the patient to have easy access to his or her material needs. The product’s width and handle design facilitate the use of any standard sized toilet, eliminating the need for external grab bars or help.
